Seems dead these days, and the site hasn't been all that active recently, basically being dead too. So there's nothing to really talk about or any reason to go in there especially when you don't have friends in the shoutbox.

It's become a memebers only club recently as in if you don't understand the memes or aren't somewhat friends with people you mostly get left out of the loop and there's not enough new members for new people to relate with

There's a few main culprits in there that just ruin the experience,

I've realized instead of just leaving when they start winding everyone up, if I hit the little block communication button on their profile like this for example:(fourth from the left)

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I no longer see their shouts, then I'm free to get on with talking to everyone else

After blocking the nuisances, I realized the sb isn't really that bad at all, most users are equally like minded and can join in with one another's jokes

Make sure if you come to the shoutbox, if someone is being an asshole, don't take the bait like I've done in the past, it just add's fuel to their fire.

As soon as you react they will spring on you, which
a) leads to you leaving the shoutbox which sucks or
b) staff will mute you both which is never great but it happens to prevent flaming on one another

I'd consider myself a long time member of the SB, been lurking in there since 2013/4 ish.

My advice is that if you've not been in there since 2016, go back in there and try again. It's a much more chill place now compared to what it used to be. The SB has always had it's regulars but I've seen more and more people join and become a regular over the year.

A lot of people use it for general convo and talking to others about games, whether that be a new update or asking if people want to play it.

You're not going to want to speak all the time. For example, when Anime is the key subject, I tend to keep the tab open but wont engage since it's not a topic that I know. If you find yourself in this scenario, I would say lurk, get to know the people and have a good time. Also, ignore the hammers to your right. They don't bite.

I only ever be in it when I'm using TTG at a computer, which is quite rarely nowdays. I use TTG 99.9% of time on the phone.

When I am active I do tend to spend a lot of time in the shoutbox. Although I do feel everyone has there own group of friends in there hence why I tend not to speak much.

XeCookie_ wrote Dont wanna start any huge arguments in fact after this response I most likely wont even look at others responses to this (if there even are any) but the shout box doesnt always seem very welcoming to newer people and often times people get rude with others and dont wanna risk getting in trouble so they dont defend themselves and just end up leaving. Not only that but the shoutbox is full of the same people who always use it so they always converse with each other and not so much with new comers, now this is all my opinion but thats what I observe when I rarely go in there.
I have to agree with you my dude some people on the site can be really rude which is why I never go on there and it sucks cause it's really great feature on TTG!

Tom wrote A lot of people usually don't come because of their self-esteem cant handle the joking among members and taking things a little too serious. I mean, half of the Ask The Staff topics in the past were disputing on members being rude or saying things they shouldn't. There's a line to when it's joking with someone you've known for awhile on the site to where its actually serious and that member is taking things a little far because he may not know you as much and is just set in that joking mood because that's what the shoutbox is, a joke. BUT, that line usually NEVER gets crossed unless its Spencer or Loke of course.

Also, not many new members are getting as active or fulfilled with the site like us regular members did when v4 or v3 was out. Discord is also another thing that's bringing the shoutbox down because it's newer, you can party in it, and its just so much further in programming than this trashbox.

Just my opinion, idk.

The problem with this statement is that when new people go into the Shoutbox, there's always 'hostility' (they're mostly all joking) between members who have been going into the Shoutbox for months or years; newer members will think that the Shoutbox is just a toxic shitheap if the first thing you walk into is Nick telling someone to shut up or Loke/Saki being extremely (and weirdly) amorous with each other, not that there's anything wrong with th Shoutbox. I just think newer members avoid it because of that 'toxicity' (which isn't really toxic, just banter between the regular users of the Shoutbox) or newer members don't realize that the Shoutbox even exists.

With that said, you guys really shouldn't be avoiding the Shoutbox. Unless you're going to spam a link to your stupid YouTube video, you can keep that out of the Shoutbox and just post it on the 'Social Media' section of the Forums.
