Kaizen99 wrote I have had a look at Cex and they are selling 970 for £220 and £300 for the 980 in which case I may opt for the 980 since I never took into account selling my current card.

Do not pay that much for them. You can easily get a GTX 980 for less than £220, so paying that much for a 970 makes no sense whatsoever. CeX sometimes have some really good deals, but sometimes they're trash. Here are two guys selling 4 GTX 980s for £220/225 each, just a month ago;

GTX 970s have sold on their for £150-160 at the higher end, I've seen people sell 970s as low as £120. I wouldn't spend more than £50-60 extra for a 980 over a 970.

Kaizen99 wrote I have been looking on ebay also and they seem to have different brands of gtx, is there much of a big difference and which are the most affordable models?

Not really. The coolers are different, just make sure you get an open air cooler, and not a blower style card.

Top is open air, bottom is blower.

Kaizen99 wrote My PSU is a Corsair CX750 would this be viable for a gtx980?

Not the greatest PSU, but as GTX 970s and 980s are pretty efficient, it will be fine. I'd definitely be upgrading the PSU asap, but it'll be fine for now.

Kaizen99 wrote I have a 120gb SSD when the pc was first bought with a normal 1TB harddrive. Unfortunately 120Gb is way too little for the games to be installed on. Will adding an additional SSD make such a big difference?

As long as your OS is on the SSD, it's fine. You can add another SSD later(or now) if you wish, for games. Installing games to the SSD is pretty much just going to speed up load times a bit. If you've got GTA V though, you'll absolutely want that installed on an SSD, you'll notice a difference.

Thanks for the info, that's very helpful. I guess CEX does have a one year guarantee, though I've never heard a lot of news on faulty GPUs. Would you reccommend ebay? Never bought from reddit before.

Got it, I will get a open air one.

I'll see how the PSU runs and then decide whether it's worth changing.

I guess if it's only load times then its not a big priority, something to think about in the future.

Yee, 970/980 would be good options. And if you decided to rebuild you can slap it in the new build.

Honestly wouldn't even mess with the PSU unless you're having issues until you rebuild.

Yeah SSD would help a lot and will slap into new build if you decide to.
