Sorry to hear you lost your pet its always hard because they end up becoming part of the family so the loss is real.

I'd say another dog but some dogs are hard to deal with when they're pups little idea you could go to a dog shelter and get a rescue dog that would be a awesome thing to do and give the selecteddog a chance of a happy loving life.

get a bearded dragon, corn snake, ball python or a leopard gecko

Get a rabbit! I've had mine for about 6 years now and he's great. He's not the least bit shy to my new puppy either. It took awhile for him to get comfortable with me though but he's the best.
