It just means that federal things are shutdown until the spending bill gets through.
Typically the only tangible difference other than the media stuff is national parks being shut down for the time being.

Sadly the cops will still be on duty and managing to kill at least a few unarmed folks in the meantime.

Are you asking a question or reporting on the topic.

This section is for making informative news post... 10 words and a link is very far from informative.

If you are asking questions then you should post in the general section. And if you are making this post to inform people, then please put more effort in to it.

There is only one sticky for this section and guess what it is called...

Making Informative News Articles

Since I am assuming that you are asking questions, I will answer what you asked.

What does it mean? "A government shutdown is the closure of nonessential offices of the government due to lack of approval on the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Approval is reached if Congress passes all of the spending bills regarding the federal budget."

Is there anything we should be concerned about? Obviously yes. I have heard that as many as 800,000 people will be furloughed. I have heard that billions of dollars will be lost if the shutdown does happen. And there is much more.

You did not ask, but do I think that a shutdown will occur? No, there is too much at stake. I think that both parties need to grow up, stop complaining about each other, and actually get this sorted out. I have heard both sides say that this is a victory for them. And it makes no sense for me. I'm a die hard Trump supporter, but him and the republicans need to get it together. We have a majority and we are still struggling to get things done. And then we have democrats crying about the wall. They think that it is better to have a government shutdown rather than build a wall.

I think a easy way to get the government to actually come up with solution is to make them lose their pay just like 800,000+ other people would. They would have much more incentive to do things. Money makes the world go round.

WTF is it about people like you?

I do not like cops, but they do serve a purpose. Just because a few cops make mistakes (intentional or not) does not mean that they are all pigs.

You should learn to respect people who go and risk their life to make your life better.

You see one little incident on the news and all of the sudden all cops are terrible terrible people. You want to go and stand in the middle of a road and cry about how black lives matter. GTFO of here with that whole hate group bs. Think about how many times cops do the right things and no body says anything. Have you thought about that? Cops do great things (for the most part) and all they want is a little bit of respect. They don't want you to suck up to them. Just have some respect. Hell, I have seen cops do great things, and people still complain.

People like you make me want to do some stupid things. I just can not understand where you are coming from. Just from reading your comment I am starting to get upset and I can no longer continue to type about this. This is going to be the one and only reply you will be getting from me. If you have not learned from what I just typed and got it through your head. Then you are not going to change your mind and I am just wasting my time.

It's hard for me to put into words just how little of a shit I give that you're hurt by me not licking the boots of authority.

Modern day police are nothing less than an occupying army. They even are receiving military equipment now including tanks, grenade launchers, and the like to use in American streets.
This is why I don't support gun control. You can't disarm the people until you disarm the cops.

I'm not trying to start beef with anyone. I really want to understand what goes through their heads.

If anyone is starting beef it is you. You send me a message calling me a nobody because I disliked ONE of your comments. And then when I reply with my reasoning you block me.

I tried to explain to him why he needs to quit acting like a little kid, and show some respect to people who risk their life to improve the life's of others.

I'm sure that some one is thinking "You don't just get respect, respect is earned." Respect is earned when you risk your life to improve the life's of others.

The simple fact that I told him that I was not going to respond to him, shows that I am not trying to start beef.

I would either like to now a legitimate reason for why some one does not like police, or I am going to tell them how I feel. The same goes for you. I did not like your comment, so I disliked it. I disliked ONE comment and you threw a fit like a kid.

I did not single you out. If you go and look at a few of the past news stories and rants, you will see that I have disliked many peoples comments. And I do this for various reasons. But the main reason, is because people make comments or post that are too short/not informative and/or the post was pointless. For example, "
Discord Joined." That is a completely pointless comment to make. If you joined the discord, then OP would already know. All that comment is doing is boosting your post account and wasting peoples time.

Just let the record reflect that the only reason the government is shutdown right now is because the GOP misused the budget reconciliation process.

Pretext: Budget reconciliation is a legislative process that makes it so it only takes a simple majority to pass something instead of a super majority, but it can only be used once per fiscal session. This process was meant for budgets.

To get their extreme $1.6 trillion wealth redistribution to the already-wealthy passed, they used this process so that it couldn't be seriously challenged.
Now that they've done this, budget reconciliation can't be used on what it was meant for to pass a spending bill like we're currently seeing.
