Clarity_ wrote So if the 970 or so that you listed is good, is it worth getting the 1060?

No, 3GB 1060 is a pretty shit card. 6GB 1060 would be better, but it's at least $270 for one of those these days. A GTX 970 should out-perform a 3GB 1060 in the majority of situations and you can usually get them used for closer to 1$180, so you'd save a bit of money off a 3GB 1060. If you're not comfortable buying used or can't find one, then a 3GB 1060 is your only option really.

Clarity_ wrote Where exactly do you buy used computer parts?

Plenty of places.

is a good example where prices tend to be pretty good.

Clarity_ wrote I'm going to go off your list and see if I can get the same prices at one store, to keep it simple and arriving at the same time.

Here;

CPU: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($109.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($56.68 @ Amazon)
Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($49.97 @ Amazon)
Video Card: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($199.99 @ Newegg)
Case: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($52.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($32.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $642.58

Get everything from Amazon and Newegg, apart from the case. Get the case from Superbiiz, otherwise get a different case if you're buying from Amazon/Newegg.

Clarity_ wrote If I go more expensive, I could buy parts at a time until I get them all, will delay my gaming, but could be worth it.

You can definitely get it all for less than $650 ez. Do not buy it little by little. At most, wait a week, maybe a week and a half tops between buying your first and last component.

3 pre installed fans it says.

Will my power supply hold those led fans? Do I need to go to a 500w psu?
Or am I ok at 450?

No, because you can get a GTX 970 for less than $200 easily. In fact, just looking through some of the reddit threads quickly I can see that there are some 970s for $180, and 980s for $220. I've also seen some guys get GTX 970s on the subreddit I linked for $150, or even slightly less, within the past month as well. Don't pay more than $200 for a GTX 970. eBay listings are often over-priced.

No, why? It's worse than the $30 case I linked.

Well, I don't know if you're talking about the 450W EVGA PSU, or the 520W Seasonic PSU. Either way, fans use like 3W, so yes. The entire system won't use more than 300/350W. The Seasonic PSU isn't better than the EVGA PSU because it's a higher wattage. It's better because it's just better quality, it has better quality components, and will likely last longer. Cheap PSUs, like the EVGA unit are more likely to die, and if they do die, are more likely to damage other components. The EVGA PSU is fine, but it's literally bottom of the barrel when it comes to PSUs, hence why I'd recommend the $20 extra for the Seasonic PSU, if at all possible. Also, the Seasonic PSU is fully modular which saves a whole lot of headache IMO.

So with the help of this thread, the build is complete.

I was able to get it built and overclocked in about 5 hours. (I ran into a problem with the pc not turning on.
The motherboard lit up super fast and shut off).
I restarted, found out I had my cup fan hooked up into my mobo fan as well as psu cord.
I unplugged one and voila!

I overclocked at 3.9ghz , I have been running benchmarks and was able to score a total 1562 without optical drive.

From what I research that is pretty good.

I will update with pictures tomorrow.

Question:
If I wanted to upgrade to a 1080 8gb, would that be all I needed or would I need something else?

Thanks again
