This is my full setup

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350 gaming 3

Video card: MSI Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 RX 580 GAMING X 8G 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support

Memory: GeIL EVO POTENZA 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model GPR416GB3000C15ADC

CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 1500X 4-Core 3.5 GHz (3.7 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 65W YD150XBBAEBOX Desktop Processor

PSU: EVGA 700 WATT BRONZE 80 PLUS POWER SUPPLY

Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400

1TB 7,200 rpm Samsung Internal HDD

Windows 10 Pro 64bit

KEYBOARD: BAKTH Unique Premium Adjustable 7 Color Illuminated LED Backlight Wired Multimedia USB Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Set Combos Bundle + Customized Large Mouse Mat

Monitor: BenQ Zowie RL2755

Now what I'm trying to do is correctly and safely getting everything to run at rated speeds or at least close to it particularly my ram. I've enabled xmp profile which on bios showed that I achieved 2,949mhz but the Ch A/B Volt in bios was also at 1.380V while the label on my memory says 1.35V. As of right now nothing crazy has happened everything is running great no crashes despite a tad bit of delays when trying to launch things like for example MSI gaming app and other apps but that can't be due to ram. Now what I'd like to know is if it's ok for me to leave the xmp profile enabled given how it's causing for the voltage on my ram to be higher than what the rated voltage is on my ram. I personally figure 3 points higher shouldn't do damage. I called Gigabyte and was told everything may seem to run fine but in the long run my PC may become very unstable, I was also told that my CPU needs to be overclocked to achieve 2,933mhz with no issues. Now what I'd like to know is if anyone knows if I should overclock my CPU with the stock fan. Another thing I find weird is when I open up the gigabyte app center and click the SIV icon It's takes me to system information viewer and shows DDR at 2,119mhz I don't know if it's showing that cause everything is just idling and once I launch a game it'll crank the ram to the speeds I saw in the bios I need opinions on that I'm also seeing CPU at 3,478mhz.
As I get use to the PC world given how I'm a console gamer, I will be gaming once I get the hang of playing games on PC for long periods of time (not use to using keyboard and mouse atm). I'M A NOOB IN NEED OF GUIDANCE! If further information about my rig is needed for assistance I'll be glad to provide it.

I know Ryzen cpu's have ram speed limits, so you probably won't be able to get the max speed out of your ram

That's ok I know 3,000 MHz gets downgraded to 2,933MHz but I'd like to know how to get it to that or at least close to that without issues from long term use. Is what I essentially did ok?

I also have the latest version of bios (which is F7) updated to it yesterday.

Download [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and take a screenshot of your memory tab. It should say It's running at 1450 or there abouts. If its 1100 or there abouts, then its running at stock speed and not overclocked.

Now, In terms of your Ram I got confused with you for a second. Now you say that your RAM is at 2,949mhz but Gigabyte said "I was also told that my CPU needs to be overclocked to achieve 2,933mhz with no issues". There isn't a reason to go below your speed. Perhaps a mis-type or I don't understand where you're coming from?

Overclocking - Now, you can't do BCLK overclocking on that board which makes me question the Gigabyte claim even further because thats the only thing that will change your CPU and Ram speeds together.

If you want to overclock, nothing will be changed apart from your CPU speed. I would download [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and check out the "sensors only" and the "CPU (Tdie)" reading instead of the "CPU (Tctl)". Because you have an X CPU, AMD thought it would be a dank idea to add 20*c onto the reading of the CPU (Tctl). Shrug.

If you are happily below 75*c, then sure, overclock. Keep going till temps stop you or your unhappy with the audio levels.

I have a Ryzen rig so I can help you as much as you need me so keep on replying if you need a hand.

I called Gigabyte concerned about my voltage for the ram being higher than 1.35V and was told that if it's at 1.380V that means I need to overclock my CPU otherwise I need to only go to 2,667mhz (the woman had a heavy Chinese accent and sounded like she wasn't really understanding my issue) I called again spoke to someone else they said that I should be fine and that the voltage may go down and the reason for seeing the DDR at the speeds of the default speed is due to my system idling thus the reason it won't show 2,949mhz but when I run a game it should be running at the speed I set it to. Gonna post a pic here in a sec of the memory tab

So it sounds like you solved your own problem? The pictures showed like 1450 or something close so you are right on point for where you should be.

Right but why is it that when I'm in bios I see that the voltage is passed 1.35V and running at 1.38V is that ok?
