FidgetSpinner wrote Do you get any kinda of picture on boot up? If no then more than likely the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard came loose. Do you have a back light?

You need to check if there are any bad sectors on the hard drive. I would suggest running chkdsk which would scan for any bad sectors on the hard drive and if those errors are repairable if would repair and if it cannot at the end of the chkdsk scan you would see a message found one or more unrecoverable error on the hard drive which means the hard drive is damaged.

a) Insert the installation disc.

b) Restart your computer.

c) Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart.

d) If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

e) Choose your language settings, and then click Next.

f) Click Repair your computer.

g) Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

h) On the System Recovery Options menu, click on Command prompt.and in the command prompt type chkdsk /f and wait till the scan is completed and later restart the computer and check what happens.

Important:While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.

A Microsoft technician recommends the same thing I did.

which doesn't work, if I put the disc in and boot from disc, it gets stuck on a blank screen with light on.
- if I repair my computer / system restore ( which I can't do anymore ) - It'll take about 3 hours then throw me the same error I've posted about.

None of the steps above work.
