So this is a discussion on if a girl or guy can ever just be friends... What do you guys think? My opinion is no or at least very very rare cases. 98% of the time I think one will always fall for the other if not both.

Yeah but everyone thinks you're fk buddies, or something else going on. I had a girly friend for years but then it got weird and ended there and then. It's never as good as same sex mates

I believe that girls and guys can be strictly friends but it's rare.

Guys and girls can just be friends. Society has created this negative view of two friends (guy and girl) just hanging out. I don't know where it came from but it seems to me like movies and TV shows created that point of view.

What I mean is that in most shows/movies, the guy and girl start out as friends. Then they keep talking, getting to know each other and then they suddenly are a couple. It happens all the time on TV shows and movies.

It's amazing that people still think that way, knowing that friendships are a real thing but apparently friendships are only real if it's in between same-sex individuals.

Falling for someone doesn't mean you're not friends. Taking it farther than feelings is becoming something other than just "friends".

Agreed. But I've had it happen a lot to me in the past where I fell for people after starting out as friends.

I definitely think guys and girls can be friends. Some of my very best friends are girls and that's all we are. My best guy friend is actually dating one of the girls. I don't get why people say they can't be.

True. It's a reality that relationships start off as friendships but it's not that EVERY friendship will eventually end up being a relationship. There can be friendships that are just that... Friendships.

It's possible, but depending on your personality and vise versa. Some people can't just be friends, they will obtain too many feelings for the person and become sympathetic and care deep enough to make it an intimate connection. Personally, I couldn't be friends with a female. My wife would kill me.
