Who cares? if people enjoy it, let them enjoy it.
and instead of using hopsin as an example, ud probably want to grab one of future's songs, because you cant class hopsin as one of those new rappers.

first of all this is corny.

categorising an entire genre into a single statement is pretty dumb within itself
if you truly believe that every modern rapper is about this then you have no knowledge about the genre

1. Joey Badass
2.earl sweatshirt
3.chance the rapper
4.Vince Staples
5.Isaiah Rashad
off the top of my head

hopsin is one of THE worst rappers I find it hilarious how people give him credit
you're knowledge of the genre is obviously weak and you're blaming the credibility of rap on your knowledge
Okay now to list my problems with this

1. Old rappers done the exact same thing, it doesn't matter who it is even pac or biggie. In multiple songs they brag about the EXACT same shit that's rap in general.
2. Rap is not valued strictly on lyricism. It's equally as difficult to make a song which is catchy and sounds good. This is proven in the fact that there is very few lyrical songs which have the ability to be played at parties etc. For example an artist like Lil Uzi Vert makes songs which are very poor in lyricism but is extremely catchy and sounds good (which is a subjective opinion) so I will bump it. This more pop-record approach to rap is necessary to the culture of rap-hiphop. What do you play at parties ? Tupac ? if you do I am not coming.
4. "this is the reason this generation is screwed up ok" you cannot be serious this is something an old women would say. What generation do you want to go back on ? cause in every single generation there is dumb people.
5. I listen to what you class as "mumble rap" which is ironic because your strong love of lyricism isn't shown in your posts because it's a struggle to read it.
6. Music and every other artform needs to progress, if this tupac and biggie culture continued and strived all rap music would sound the same. For example artists like Travis Scott or Kanye have sonically influenced the genre in such a good way, rap is now much more sonically better. Also the fact that lyrical rappers are still alive and making a lot of music shows that the values of rap continue.

Honestly I like them both. I like old school because the lyrics and rappers were more real and rapped about struggles and things about there life. I like new rap because of the beats and honestly I like hearing new music. You can only listen to certain amount of old school till Youre tired of hearing it.

What do we class Chance The Rapper as here? Because he's pretty good I think.

Then again, my knowledge of rap is near enough non-existent.
If modern rappers doing collaborations with singers who don't rap is a result of rap evolving then I think it has evolved in a good direction.
Like Kanye making music with Bon Iver, and Chance making music with Francis and the Lights.

It seems like they're taking their lyrics and putting them in the hands of people who know how to make better music, and that seemed to be my problem with 'old rap.'
It all sounded the same to me.

The actual contents of the lyrics don't seem to have evolved at all to me. They still all rap about people getting shot, alcohol, drugs, how great they are, money, women, etc.

Also, Kid Cudi. What was he? Old or new? Because Day 'N' Nite is great.

Can you explain why hopsin is bad? Also why is this even an argument? Its like comparing old school cars to modern cars, they have their own benefits. I personally have no idea why people get so butthurt by people making music, I listen to a lot of genres, but rap is basically the sole majority of what I listen to now. I listen to heaps of artists and I don't give a flying **** as to when the song came out, if I enjoy the song, I listen, simple. Please have a fkn brain and just listen to what you like and not argue about 'oh **** the new rap game it blows, bad lyrics bla bla' no one actually cares and if you do then you need to re-evaluate your life lmao.

hopsin is one of the corniest rappers in existence and his music is just objectively bad.
He makes music for people who wear DC shoes and have a monster energy drink addiction
