5 people, including republican representative Steve Scalise, were shot and injured today at a baseball practice for a game between republicans and democrats. The shooter, identified as James Hodgkinson of Illinois, was taken into custody. Luckily, there was a police presence due to the fact that Steve Scalise is a member of the Congressional leadership. Several GOP congressmen and senators were present at this practice. They have not found out the reasons behind the shooting.

To me, this seems like it was for political reasons but I might be wrong. Might just be some loon who decided to shoot up a baseball field but the heavy presence of GOP in the field makes me think it was political more than anything.

Sad to see this stuff occur. You are probably right on the point with it being politically motivated though.

Of course this is politically motivated. What i find funny is that this guy had an AK-47 with 3 30 round magazines and killed no one even though he fired 50 rounds.

You know you suck when...

It's always sad to hear about yet another shooting. It just makes me glad I live in the UK and that we have a very low gun presence, only really military and armed forces carry weapons here. That being said there is still the odd shooting from time to time. Glad to hear that no one was killed.

Guns or not people are still going to kill each other with either knives or vans.

That guy had to be on something to miss that much with that many rounds, glad to hear no one was killed. Sucks to get shot though I bet.

Completely unsurprised that the media aren't calling this what it is, a terrorist attack.
The guy posted on his Facebook page, "Trump is a traitor, Trump has destroyed our Democracy. It is time to destroy Trump & Co."

Terrorism is violence for a political purpose. This man is a terrorist.

Let's talk for a second about how stupid this is though. This guy volunteered in Bernie Sanders' campaign.
Now you can dislike Bernie's policies all you want, but nobody can deny that Bernie is extremely committed to non-violence and increased gun control.
What runs through someone's head when they decide to advocate for a political ideology of non-violence and gun control by violently shooting people?

I think mental illness has to be involved here, but this guy did manage to buy his assault rifle legally, so maybe not.

And he managed to kill no one...

What a terrorist..

I think ISIS would even disapprove of this mediocre attempt, i mean ISIS aren't so smart themselves but when they do attack, they have been taking lives unfortunately.

This guy killed no one, with a AK-47, which in short to medium distances is normally very deadly.
