Realistically we need a section dedicated to personal problems.

A select few members to offer support for those who post in that section.

Pretty sure some members would find a way to complain about those forums dedicated to emotional support as well. I know you're trying to find a solution but there's some people (if not most) who don't care about other people's personal problems which is completely understandable. But then they make sure the emotionally unstable people know that nobody cares about their problems which could possibly make their emotional stability weaken even more.

I agree, I just didn't post a topic cause once you have a problem regarding mental health the hole world is against you which is so immature and childish.

You voice your opinion and everyone jumps down your throats.

I'm also waiting for the "you don't have to click into the thread if you don't want to reply" well some people lurk off topic alone, no other sub forums and if it's filled with personal problems then the person will move to a new forum.

Every mental health post has the same replies "it's ok bro, you'll get through this, you can get through life, you're doing great" you're also a stranger who doesn't know the user behind the screen, you're saying "you'll be ok hang in there" and the next day that person could be gone and you won't even know.

Seek help from someone who's experienced with this they're there to listen and if not PM one of the users who also post "PM me if you ever need to talk" on all the other health issue posts.

Yeah you might reply to one or two to re-assure them but not 5-6-7 posts.

Forgot to add: And if people agree so strongly about users posting their personal issues and mental health problems (even though I'd say there's a lot of exaggerating in the posts) request a sub forum for this subject and devote some of your time on here to helping people.

(Ps I'm expecting dislikes on this post I have an opinion and I can speak it, idc)

TTG should just add a feature where you can block certain words you dont want to see like Depression etc so you dont see posts including them words if people are actually that bothered about it.

Maybe I'm just a psychopath, but I don't care about people posting their depression topics, I care about the people who make topics saying that they are there to help anyone in need, that we're all this big great community where everyone is kind and nice and holds hands. It's a fantasy.

The only replies to depression topics - or if someone PM's you saying that they are depressed - should be links to depression help sites.
If they can make an account and post on TTG then they can sign up on them and talk to a professional.

Another thing which I find annoying, and I have done this myself in the past but I know better now, is when someone posts a topic explaining their reasons for being depressed and every single reply is "Yeah I'm depressed too bro, because of x, y and z. It gets better dude."
That is the biggest piece of evidence for me that most of these people trying to seem kind are really just self centered and are begging for attention and sympathy themselves.

Very few people actually try to discover more about why the person is feeling the way they do and give them real advice about how they could solve their problems.

But even then I could never imagine holding myself and my abilities in such high regard that I would post a topic telling random people I have never met that I am the right person for them to talk to about their problems. Thinking that I, special little me, would be able to make them feel better.
There is a reason why people study for years just to be good at talking to people with mental health problems.
Talk to them in the wrong way and you can get them to do and think things that you never intended and can make them worse off than when they started speaking to you.

Good intentions don't always lead to good outcomes.

The point I hope to get across is that by sharing your problems on here, it might encourage trolling which in turn will make your problems worse.

Don't listen to someone on here who knows very little about a mental illness/disorder such as depression or anxiety. Seek professional help.

1.05 Flaming is not allowed. Do not verbally abuse other members.

If someone did share a personal problem and someone decided to troll. I'm pretty sure that would violate the above rule of the site anyways.

Just because you are not professional does not mean you cant offer advice or steer someone in the right direction.

I can see where you are coming from as to why you do not want to see personal topics. But just ignore the topic, no need to lurk through something if it bothers you!

I made a detailed post suggesting a dedicated sub forum for these kinds of topics in the ask the staff section a week or 2 ago. That didn't work out and was shut down in an hour, so I wouldn't waste your breath. I have nothing against people needing help, I just felt that it would be best to have a dedicated section so the general discussion doesn't have 5+ topics in a row that are about this stuff.

This is a gaming forum but you are on the off topic sub-forum. That general means it's off the topic of gaming... There is no issue with people asking for help, in fact this is one of the better places to do so. We as the younger generation are more likely to listen to our peers about their trials and tribulations than we are to take advice from some 50 year old depression doctor. If you don't like the topic at hand, keep scrolling.

I have seen depression posts since I have been here. It was just a matter of the mods and admins taking a lot of them down. "This is a gaming site." True, but this site also has sections for vehicles, conspiracies, rants, TV shows, and sports. That section is off-topic, which means it should contain anything that doesn't already have a topic, would be some personal threads. That was actually one of the things that I argued for a couple of years ago on here. Made zero sense to take down so many topics that were under an "off-topic" label. Just get rid of the section then if off-topic topics aren't allowed.

Should people try and get help? Yea, sure. I just don't get why they can't seek some type of opinions or advice from others. Do titles of threads really affect you enough to want everyone to stop? I mean, I'm assuming you aren't clicking on topics to get depressed off of. I tried to get help once. Didn't work. While I am sure there is something that could be changed to make it better, I found out, on this site, a philosophy that I didn't know that I really followed which causes me to be a bit down on life in general. While not solving my problem, I'm just glad that part of it is labeled and identified. Feels a bit better.

"It might encourage trolling." I disagree with that. I mean, there are those that will troll due to it, but they aren't encouraging it. Trolls are to blame. No one else. They encourage it with their trash behavior.

Overall, I don't care about the topics. If people need help, I refuse to be mad at them asking for it. It's better than if they never ask for it and suffer alone.

Lol you supply link that could turkey help and instead want people to ask us. Everyone tell them the same stuff. It'll work out it'll get better. That doesn't help. I have anxiety too and asking someone in a forum won't change anything. It's not that we aren't being human but there's a reason there's mental health doctors. Good work in this post man.
