Alright, I want to start by saying, yes I am 16 almost 17. I have been applying for a job since I was 15. I even understood then, that I wasn't old enough for many jobs. That was ok. I was still a "kid". I am now in panic because I have applied for over 13 months now, knowing I am getting older and I am now old enough to get a job and haven't been replied to, or even declined. (I would even be good with that. At least they saw it). But now, I have things I want and things I need. My family isn't very wealthy. They know that. My mom says I am 16 and I don't need to get a job yet but if I do, she'd be happy. I have things I would like to accomplish but I don't have the tools I need for those to happen. I've tried asking people to help them but they won't even consider. I am here to ask, is there ANYTHING that I can do, online, in person, anything, to make any bit of money. I can design graphics, I can ship things and sell them. I just need to make money. That's it.

Many businesses that offer jobs are dicks. They will only look for a specific type of candidate, the one with experience but they won't give the person with no experience any type of chance to GAIN that experience.

I've had two jobs ever and I'm 21. Between those two jobs, I was unemployed for almost a year. You will eventually land a job and you'll appreciate having one so much more.

When you turn 18, your chances will go up by a LOT. Most companies will only employ 18+.

First off, Let me say that if you keep at it you will get a job. My first job was at a dennys. I worked there for over 2 years as a cook. Your age group can get jobs, Just limited to what type. Your best bet is fast food or restaurant, also some retail stores.

It would help if you know a friend, Or family member already working somewhere that you would be able to work as well. They could put in a word for you. Don't give up. Keep on searching and you will get a job.

Mellowed is right about the chances going up once you hit 18+. Most employers don't want to deal with minors being required to take a break, Or school hours etc. That is one reason it is so hard for people your age to land a job.

Too many employers are looking for too much now-a-days.

I was in the same situation as you my friend. In fact over the past year I have applied for jobs, some replied by telling me I'm "not the right fit for the position" or most of them didn't reply to my applications at all.

But don't worry it's not your fault, it's simply the worlds state right now. People all around the world are unemployed and it's not their fault.

I now have a job and I only got the job because I knew the right people, now a days that's what is key for your first ever job. Knowing the right people can get you into jobs with no interview needed, myself and all my friends who worked have been employed by people we knew before we started working which is why we were employed in the first place.

That's my experience on it and what I think is the best way to start off

You could check with your local Community Action, some have Summer Youth programs that will employ you to work. It will help you gain work experience and develop a good work ethic. I graduated at a young age, I was sixteen years old, so I know how tough it can be sometimes, especially coming from the same thing, family not having much, etc. You may however need to write and submit a resume, so if you need help with this, just let me know - I have a great template you can use. Have a good one, and keep your head up.

You're still much too young. 95% of jobs require you to be at least 18. Enjoy being young while it lasts because as soon as you get out into the work force. You're gonna wanna go back to being attached to the embilical chord lol
