Yes, virtual DJ is very good. Some other DJs use a program called "tractor" and fruity loops is ok but logic pro is better. ;)

production wise I use Ableton with an assortment of VSTS ive collected over the years. DJing I have all native instruments dj equipment, IE Kontrol S4 2 Kontrol F1's Machine, I use Traktor Scratch Pro 2 while djing.

You should probably add traktor as its alot better then VDJ if you have equipment

I started with VDJ, moved on to djay (got it for christmas with a vestax spin 3 years ago) then to traktor, and now I use VDJ. I find it the most comfortable. For DAW I use Ableton, reason, logic, and Pro Tools.
I hate when people say one DAW is better than the other, or that there is a best one when there really isn't. They all have their perks but some prefer one over the other. I only use ProTools because I am a sound design student. I use ableton when im live at a party and vdj obviously only when I use my cdj. Reason is probably my favorite but I also use logic because I have a mac.
