There are some people that watch anime and there are the few that take it too far.

I wouldn't say purge all anime fans, but only those who obsess over it to the extent that they are annoying (like referring themselves as an 'otaku', which is a pejorative term in Japanese anyway so they make themselves look stupid).

This is how you sound. Anime is just a medium used to tell a story, if you thought one episode of one anime was odd that doesn't mean all of them are like that.
