It'll grow back. Getting it trimmed is not a bad idea, that's how you shape your beard. I don't trim mine enough so it gets all messy at the edges. Give it another 6-10 weeks, then get it trimmed again just to tidy it up. Just make sure to ask for not a lot of length off this time. Make sure you go to someone reputable, if you just go to any random barber, they'll do a shit job.
