When I click the power button on my HP Compaq dc5700 Small Form Fador, it turns green while I hold the button but nothing happens... Please help!
Now a red button starts lighting on and off and making noises..

You've given us very vague information.

Can you post a video in here of what is happening?

Eh these old machines. Little POS tbh.

Take the RAM out, one at a time, and try turning it on, reconnect try the other, take both out, try the other two slots, remember colored first.

Disconnect and reconnect any drives, power cables, fan leads, case I/O connectors.

Do everything one motion at a time, disconnect the drive, see if it will POST. if not, keep it unplugged take a stick of RAM out, try again, if not take that stick out put the other one in. If not, take them both out, and try again, see if you hear the CPU fan spin. If not, do below, but plug in a stick of ram for measures.

Take the panel off. move the cable clutter out of the way, get the CPU fan shroud off, and get the CPU cooler off, take the CPU out reseat it, and if you can replace the thermal compound if not it costs $2 or so for some arctic silver 5. put the heatsink back on, then try turning it on. If not, it could be your power supply. Listen to hear the fan spin since these things are fairly loud.

If it's 3 long beeps it is ram, so tame out ram and match them up and put the in two in colored slots first. None the less, the computer seems old so if it's been making noise for a while it could be your harddrive.

This motherboard doesn't have a POST speaker. No point in trying this. The hard drive likely is not faulty, that wouldn't cause it not to turn on just wouldn't recognize it.

Didn't take the time to look into the computer. Was playing it by ear. Thanks for correcting my mistake!

It is 2 beeps.. I've been looking online and it could be that I have to clean the computer out?

okay so maybe i was wrong about the motherboard not having a post speaker.. unless it added didn't say on the spec sheet.

HP POST codes can be found on their website, and generally. A lot of the time in HP the two beep code tends to not be that bad? Just no disk drive, or if you are getting two faster beeps the RAM is often not seated properly.
