Please be on the lookout for these type of "Friends" ... notice that I put friends in quotations . The friends that only hit you one when they want/need something from you . I saw my friend deal with this with some kids that he attends college with they would ask him to drive them around town & NEVER offer him gas money NEVER ... even when they went to the mall to buy new shoes & clothes I still never offered him gas money . I told him that they were just using him , but I guess he just wanted to make some new friends ... I then told him that you can't BUY friendship smh . Well it's a good thing that he's finally come to the conclusion to stop fooling with them.

But be aware of these type of "Friends"

Yes I agree , some people will do anything just to have friends but you will see it different from the way he sees it

Driving people around isn't being taken advantage of. If he may like them, so it doesn't matter. I didn't get my license until I was 18. My friends always wanted to go out, so they drove me. I occasionally would try to give them money for gas, but they never took it anyways. Even now I hate driving, if my friends make plans and want me to come along, I'd say 80% of the time they pick me up or I meet them there. Part of that is my fear of getting into an accident and having the person that is with me get hurt.

There's nothing wrong with getting driven by people or driving friends to places.

Most of the time friends don't hit you up unless they need something anyways.

It's hard to say if they are using him really because he may not mind driving people around for free. I passed my test coming up two years ago and I only ask for fuel money if it's fairly far out of my way. It's a 10 minute drive to town so I normally don't bother asking for fuel.

Only talking to someone when they need help I agree is usually someone you want to stay away from, but the whole giving/getting a ride from someone and not paying gas money is iffy. If someone is already headed somewhere, I dont see the need to pay for gas money when all im doing is getting a ride to a place they were already going to be at.

I get what youre saying, yes you should pick your friends wisely.

I just offer gas money every time I have a lift it's just common courtesy to care.

As you grow older in life. You realize not every friend your think you had are really not your friends. I have probably 1 or 2 good friends that I do things with. And one good friend that is like a brother to me.
