Social Media and music play a big role in the terms we use today, for the most part, it's just very catchy slang that people like to use. I can see why you hate the terms because of how overused they have become. People like to take part of these things because it's just fun. Over time when we grow up we're going to grow out of it, and then we will be replaced with the next generation with new terms possibly as well.
