I have decided to make this ti help whoever may need it.

Before i start, TATTOOS ARE PAINFUL. That is what you need to be aware of before thinking of getting one.

Another think you need to think about is the artwork and the time behind it. Now, every tattoo isn't done with the same brush. There is a wide variety of brushes for different outlines/shading. Below is a diagram of most common brushes.

So let's say you found a tattoo you want and it looks very cool and you are downset on choosing that one. Then after a little while you don't think you can do it because it hurts so bad, well now what. you can't stop midway through...(unless you get it removed which hurts more then the tattoo itself)

These are things to think of when getting a tattoo.

• How long will the tattoo take? Will it take an hour or a day or more?
  
  Every tattoo varies from time, obviously. But some tattoos can take months even years to complete. So that is something to take into consideration when getting a tattoo. Smaller tattoos can take an hour while actual artwork can take months. My back is currently getting tattooed and i'm about 6 months in, so think about that..
  
  
  
  
  
• How much pain can i endure?
  
  Pain varies with each tattoo as with each person. Some people may have a higher tolerance then others. Fun fact, women are more likely to endure pain with tattoos then men. Some tattoos are so painful it could lead you to blackout and become unconscious and the artist is then unable to work on you because it could lead you to have an epileptic episode. So below i have a diagram showing the pain chart and where the most painful spots are.

• How can i reduce the pain?
  
  To put it blunt, there no really way to reduce the pain. Never take medication or blood thinners or consume alcohol to try and reduce the pain as it will not work and your artist will know, Blood thinners cause you to bleed twice as much and alcohol, well it's easy to tell if someone is under the influence. The way i have found out how to reduce pain, kinda. Is to watch a movie with headphones in. It'll save your artist from having to hear you talk . But in all seriousness, while watching a movie, your brain focuses on transmitting that properly so will drown out the pain to a certain extent. When i started my back tattoo, believe it or not. I actually fell asleep and my artist stopped and shook me and i woke up and he thought i blacked out...I didn't, i fell asleep and he continued again.
  

Now onto ideas and finding an artist.

You may be sitting at school or work or in your girlfriends bed and you are thinking, What the hell do i want?

I don't think i have to remind you that tattoos are PERMANENT. So whatever you get, make it have meaning, or don't. I don't give a shit if you have an idea for a tattoo always draw it or write it down and you can combine them for an actual art piece. Tattoo artists are there for you, if you ask them to draw you up a design they will. Most are willing to draw up multiple designs for you. So just ASK.

Finding a tattoo place can be hard and even annoying. The things always to look at and remember are.

• How are the reviews?
  
• is the place up to standard?
  
• Have they passed all their state checks?
  
• Are they cleaning tools
  
• Are the artists any good?
  

Those are the most important things to look out for, if you get a tattoo from a non reputable place. You could get a serious infection or even a disease from someone. It can be very very dangerous so always be on the lookout, if it does't feel right you should leave.

Tattoo artists now-days usually have an Instagram they display their artwork so ask for the artists and check them out. Also, most of the time they have pictures of their artwork in the room. Artists will always take pictures of your tattoo after you are done(if it's a good piece and not something simple) So they can promote their artwork, so if they take a picture of your tattoo, it's a good thing.

SO let's say you found a place and have an idea set and want to get tattooed. Most places require a downpayment of 100$ that is taken of the final tattoo price itself.

So you are on the chair about to get tattooed and wonder "what the hell is going to happen next"
Well almost always they will shave the part of you getting tattooed because your body has little hairs that can cause the ink to blend wrong. He will then put cream on your arm and spread it out(usually) so it helps with the rawness and then the moment of truth will arrive.

The dreadful buzzing, well not really. I actually finding it relaxing. The buzzing can be loud so get used to it.

Okay so let's say you got your tattoo, the artist will inform you on what to do and how to keep it clean but i will list them here, well because i can.

• He will put wrap on the tattoo, leave it on for up to 2-3 hours and do NOT remove it.
  
• Remove after 2-3 hours and gently rinse it with antibacterial non scented soup.
  
• Apply A&D ointment or if your artist gave you cream then use that.
  
• Do not let the tattoo dry up, continue to apply cream to it so it's moisturized
  
• The tattoo towards the end of the healing process will itch, it will itch so much it'll drive you insane. Do not scratch it ever, it can possibly remove the ink and damage it. Just continue to apply cream.
  

Also note, while applying cream. you'll wake up with black guk on your tattoo. That is normal, some ink gets trapped towards the surface and will fall out. It will not damage the tattoo and is completely normal.


And finally, here are the don'ts of tattoo care

• Do not shower for long as the water will fade the ink(only after the first week)
  
• Do not let the sun hit it, so if you live in a beach area and want to show your new tat off, DON'T. It will fade very fast and it'll look like a crappy basement tattoo
  
  
• Do not ever scratch it, you will damage it and remove the ink)
