Alright. So I doubt this is possible so I don't have high expectations but, would it be possible to use two monitors on my laptop with the lid closed? For example I would have the HDMI out to a monitor and then the VGA out to another monitor possibly running through a VGA to HDMI converter. I don't care about response times because I don't game. Has anyone had any experience doing this? I just want to know if it would work really. I'm looking to do a triple monitor setup, one screen for my console and two for my computer. Thanks guys!

Go to control panel > power Options > when I close lid > choose do nothing

Also, make sure you change your computer to never shut down automatically or go to sleep automatically otherwise you're going to have to keep pulling the lid up and turn the laptop back on

Right so what you could do is simply alter the settings. I use my TV screen instead of my laptop screen. Very simple to do and it's easy to convert. Make sure that your laptop is fast enough to do so, not so much around response time but it can not be powerful enough to sustain a dual monitor set-up.

It doesn't take much power to do dual monitors, clearly. If a raspberry can do it a laptop can definitely.

Also, is your monitor HDMI compatible?

If that is your case go get an HDMI splitter

HDMI splitter would only work to duplicate the screens, not extend them

Seems like there's bit of confusion going on here. I already know how to have the laptop on with the lid closed, thanks though. What I need to know is if I can use HDMI to one screen and VGA to another. My laptop has 1 hdmi out and 1 vga out, this is why I'm wondering. Thanks!

Yes of course, Just plug both monitors into the laptop and go onto your display settings and configure it how you need to. I am using my work laptop right now with 2 monitors - 1 VGA and 1 HDMI. I literally just solved it. I just hooked my HDMI into my TV and VGA into my monitor and wallah.
