Not Really.

What you should look at more so is what you wish to do. Look at what job you wish to achieve and then what qualifications will boost your knowledge about the subject. This can gain you higher monetary gains.

You're right it isn't the best. But it does pay a substantial amount more than most places.

Averaging 60-90k$ USD a year is really not that bad if he plans on being by himself, and or even with bare maximum of two people.

CIS is a bad major yes, but after getting a few certs in security, you can add on to that 60-90k buy about 20-30k. It all depends on where you plan to go with this.

I was hoping to be something like an IT manager/director.
Does that sound good enough?

IT director is more of a live alone job, you're bringing slightly under half the pay of a manager on a good year, anywhere from roughly (135k for manager to 70k ish), which in turn is not bad at all still managing roughly 20-60$/h which is a relatively great amount at this day.

But if you're planning for this yes, it would be a great choice for manager.

Bite the bullet and major in Computer Science instead.
CIS is a shit degree if we're being honest...

CashPower wrote I was hoping to be something like an IT manager/director.

You could also get this job with a Computer Science degree and even more.
If a CS major and a CIS major applied for an IT position, the CS major would more than likely get hired instead,
CS is really more marketable.
CS might be more rigorous and time consuming, but will get you better jobs and will open more doors than a CIS degree.

ugh , this is all so difficult . I do want a job to keep a family in good shape, but yet I am afraid of financial struggle due to my choice of studies. I also am interested in medical studies.
