I'm looking at building a gaming PC, I have an idea on some of the items I want but not sure what other items I need or are missing. This is what I have so far:

Intel Core i5-6600K Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) = £200
KINGSTON HYPERX FURY BLACK 8GB DDR4 RAM 2133MHz PC4-17000 DIMM DESKTOP MEMORY x 2 = £100
Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO Motherboard Intel Z170 4 x DDR4 = £200
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB DUAL White Graphics Card = £200
Western Digital Black 1TB (7200rpm) SATA 6Gb/s 64MB 3.5" Hard Drive (Internal) = £70
Aerocool X-Predator X1 Evil Black Gaming computer Case 12cm Orange LED Fan USB 3 = £40
Corsair VS650 650W PSU 80 Plus Rated ATX PC Power Supply - CP-9020098-UK - £55
Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit

I'm not even sure if these are compatable to work together, I'm assuming they are, also what other essential items am I missing?

Should I be getting a sound card and a DVD/Blu-Ray drive to add as well?

Any advice would really be appreciated, I've tried to research as much as I can but I have no idea really what I'm suppose to be looking for, more opinions would be helpful.

Your'e definitely going to want to put a ssd in there as well, a 250gb or lower ssd will do you fine.
You don't technically need a disc drive unless you plan on doing a lot of things with a disc.
You can also find a cheap legit windows key online if you look around.

But 13 shall post soon and he will build you a sweet pc just for your needs at a great price.

Most people use an sdd as a boot drive. They get a lower gb ssd and a secondary hdd with around 1tb of storage.
They get the ssd for booting up the pc quicker, installing most program files on the ssd such as Photoshop, Sony Vegas etc so it starts the program hell of a lot quicker.
Having an SSD in your pc this day and age is basically an essential.

OK, Thank you.

I look forward to seeing what 13 can come up with, I may be overspending for what I'm trying to get, I literally have no idea.

Cheaper SSD if necessary;

Alternative CPU cooler;

If you're not overclocking, save some money and get an i5-6500 instead of the 6600k, with a Raijintek Aidos instead of the Phanteks or Be Quiet cooler.

I have no idea what over clocking is

If I went for the cheaper Processor/Cooler how much would I save and how much difference would there be in performance?

Thank you for your input.

It wasn't about saving money it was just more of a question of how much would perfermance decrease if I went for the cheaper processor etc.

I've decided what I'm going to do now though, thank you very much for your help.

Performance difference between a 6500 and 6600k would be negligible since you're not overclocking. No point spending the premium for an unlocked chip if you're not going to utilise it. Get the i5-6500, Raijintek Aidos and MSI Z170 A PRO. Its better to spend the extra on the 525GB MX300.
