I'm not good at any type of graphics designing whatsoever... I do have free time in a couple of my classes so I like to mess around in Photoshop. So I thought I would give it a try to make myself a twitter header.

I really lack a creative side of myself, ideas are very hard to come up with for me. I was feeling good today and just messed around with a few settings. I would appreciate if you guys would give me ideas on how to make it look better or what I could change if you think it looks bad.

If you simply just think it's sh*t, then don't bother commenting... Like I said I'm not good at doing anything PS related, so I obviously know this isn't perfect... Also, should I be saving the final image a certain way to look better or something? I simply went to Save As and saved it as a JPEG.

Hey man I know what you mean when you say you lack a creative side.
The best way I find inspiration for design is either looking at pictures on Google or watching other designers.

For your piece you posted first off, yes there is a way you should save your pictures.
Click File at the top left, Export, Save for Web Legacy and save it as a PNG 24.
This way it saves it in high quality for any internet uploading. Never save as JPEG.

For your design, I see you have the right idea but it needs improvement.
I would learn some layer styles for your text and mess around with other effects to make your text pop a bit more and give it a nice clean feel to it.

The green lighting in the background is a bit over done and definitely could be toned down.
Your brush stock kinda looks like it's just there and not incorporated to the design, it looks random.

Overall you are going in the right direction and with more practice you can perfect this look you are going for.

Thank you! I appreciate the advice that you have given me.

The brush stock isn't actually a brush stock. Easiest way to put it was it was from me erasing part of the image and not knowing how to fix it. -_- I did this in class and I ran out of time so I just said I'm done and finished it off.

Thank you again, I hope to get better at this. I would love to be able to make all graphics for myself and not have to request from others.

I think Skates already said this but, I save using the File>Save For Web and then I usually choose to save it as a PNG.
As for creativity, try not to over think the concept of your piece, do the first thing that comes to your head, maybe let things fall in place and correct them as you go.
Never try to hard to make something perfect or as you maybe once saw it because, mistakes are sometimes the best form of art. Keep trying and keep grindin'

I like the background but not loving the stroke around the font and the green gradient. Apart from all of that I think it's okay.
