I'm not entirely sure if I'm the only one that does this or not, but I have found myself in a mood of constantly thinking of upgrading my PC.

Here is step 1 of my [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Here is step 2 of my [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Here is step the 3rd and final step of my [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I understand that my computer is fine for where it stands right now. I have come up with a possible upgrade build to see what you guys think.
Things I'm looking to upgrade
-case
-motherboard
-RAM
-GPU
-Power supply
-Monitor!

I've been a member of this community for a very long time, but when I moved to college I forgot my password book at home; consequently, I don't have my old account M9-Jasper.

Here is an upgraded build that I would like to eventually get to. I am hoping that some of these will seem obvious as to why. I would be getting a smaller case because my dorm room is only so large.
I will be upgrading my motherboard and RAM. This isn't totally necessary, so if anything I would like some feedback in this area. Does my computer necessarily need to have the MOBO or RAM upgraded?
The next thing is the power brick. This would be, just because.
The next thing is the graphics card.

My next question is about the upgrading order.
I would like to get the case and graphics card first. I understand that it will be a pain to change out motherboards no matter what timing I do it in. What do you guys think?

Not going to lie man, thats a good system. I was once in that area where all I wanted to do was upgrade my system and get better parts. I've stopped now because it's a lot of money considering you are a college student( I am also). 16GB of RAM is great for everything. Gaming, Editing and so on. But if money's no object then the one thing that you are missing is a SSD. I would start with that then work down your list if you feel necessary. A smaller case could lead to a smaller motherboard and possibly a new graphics card but, the card you have would be great for a small system(Long as it fits). Personally I would stick with what you got and add a SSD and maybe get a smaller case.

Easily the best upgrade is getting an SSD. Probably followed by a better case.
The rest is fine and not worth upgrading.

My priority upgrades would be PSU followed by GPU.
Probably an upgrade to 16GB RAM after that.

I just ordered two more 4GB sticks of RAM and the NVIDIA GeForce 1070. Will have to wait on the PSU. Thanks for your feedback!

Why do you have DDR3 RAM with Skylake? I would've just upgraded the motherboard, PSU, and SSD. Much better purchase imo.

Case is fine.

Yeah, definitely don't buy more DDR3 RAM. Running DDR3 RAM on Skylake is going to damage over time, you're going to want to hop on to DDR4 asap. That APEVIA case would be a downgrade from your current NZXT case, so that definitely makes zero sense. Do not buy a blower style GTX 1070, they suck. Definitely upgrade that PSU when you can.

Around $1000 upgrade, seems like that's what you were looking for? Nice RGB mech keyboard and a nice RGB mouse. Nice new motherboard and DDR4 RAM. Your current case is fine, if you wanted an upgrade, I'd maybe look at a Phanteks Enthoo Pro, or Eclipse P400(S). You should definitely add another SSD, but you don't really need to do that straight away. New, good quality PSU, and 750W is enough for SLI support, so you can easily add a 2nd GTX 1070 at any point.

When you do get around to getting a case but I do recommend getting a case last because its more for aesthetics but this is the case I use and recommend to most people.
