Unless you live under a rock, you'll be fully aware that the United States have elected Donald Trump to be their 45th President come January.

The news, as expected, isn't what everyone was hoping for and as a result a series of demonstrations across the nation have broken out. Check out the 'Spoiler' sections below to find out where, and what has happened!

Where?

New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Portland and Washington DC have all seen large demonstrations over the last 24 hours with 'Not My President' being the slogan.

Response

As a result of the protests, security has been increased outside of all Trump buildings, including his home and even the White House.

The NYPD have been especially quick to react, bringing in large concrete barriers and heavily armed Officers outside of Trump's New York Tower.

Exercising their right to freedom of assembly. It's the sign of a healthy democracy.
The difference between these protests and the Tea Party protests is that they were actually organic and spontaneous.

I think it's quite stupid that they are protesting since Mr Trump hasn't even officially stepped into office yet. I think everyone should calm down and stop crying that Hillary didn't win.

They need to get the hell over it. i understand protesting is okay, but do it in one place and dont mess with other peoples day.

The Newly elected city council member said we need "a resistance" Like what the shit are you talking about.

The funny thing is people really think these riots will change something and that's just absurd.

Similar (but not as extreme) things happened in the UK with Brexit. Its democracy, he won.
They can't get angry because the person you wanted didn't win.

The professional thing to do would be to respect that he is now the president, but work hard to get him to listen to your views and create a persuasive argument so he has no choice but to act upon your beliefs with enough support. Hurling abuse at him and so on is only going to make things worse and give him a good reason to ignore these peoples views/opinions.

Someone will drive right through them, mowing them all down. Then they'll say the driver was racist and had no right to be on the road in his motor vehicle.

Obviously the majority of people wanted trump to be president other wise they would not vote to elect him. All of these people are just butt hurt that they did not get their way. I did not see very much protest when they thought that Killary was going to win. It just goes to prove my point.

Remember when everyone was on Trump for not accepting the election results if he lost?

Good to know these protesters are accepting the results with grace.
