It's even sadder when people go around trying to put on some sob story while catfishing, just so they can get things. I've seen a few people on Steam who claim they're female and in their bio they will put things like "if you're sweet or want to help me get this, can you get me [insert item(s) here.] Then they have a picture of a female that you can reverse image search and see it on multiple sites. There was one in particular that would go over the top, always changing their nationality from Swedish, to Canadian, to Korean and then Japanese, always some story about how their parents forced them to move around, then suddenly they died, but then they're alive again, about all these health issues, but then the issues suddenly disappear and would always say that if people could donate Steam cards so they can level up or give them CSGO items, even knives they would "love you forever and you would be their best friend." People would call that person out on Steam and then that person would block everyone "flaming", even after some of the images could be reverse image searched. Pathetic in my opinion.

More so in Skype there was a group where we post those accounts we find and flame the shit out of people, sometimes on their Steam profile if they had comments allowed from people not in their friend list.

Just Catfishing itself is completely wrong and weird

There's a tone of catfishes, not sure why thet intend to do it apart from upsetting/ruining people's lifes. You can go on Google Images and save that image & upload it onto Google. It then comes up to see if it's real or fake. It's not nice man

Some people must just get enjoyment out of it.
Other's do it for money off stupid lonely men. Either way its wrong

There was a Youtuber that used to expose them. His name was AnxietyWar. You can still find him around and he still makes videos. He's stopped catching predators and people who try to catfish because despite meeting up in person with them and talking about how they're doing bad to the world, it just gave them a chance to escape the feds.

The way he worked was he would pretend that he was a girl, in order to talk with the predator/catfish and gain as much information as possible so it can then be handed to feds. He meets up with them and questions them. He leaves telling them that they're being reported to authorities.

But yeah it's pretty sick, you just gotta be careful, always ask for proof of things make them show their face with your name or something to prove they're genuine people.
