Straight leg is too loose for me personally.

Yeah exactly what you stated would be fine for a stress code for smartness. Jeans, T-shirt and a nice jumper with shoes. All the best with the interview.

I'd say jeans, shirt, jumper and smart shoes that you wear with jeans. Not sure on the name for them.

No.

Why would you take the risk?
You're going to be there for half an hour, then you can go home and get changed into something more comfortable.

Wear some nice trousers and a shirt. There is a huge range of clothing between "Jeans and shirt" and "Suit"
You'll want to be wearing clothes which are just as smart as the clothes the people interviewing you are wearing.
If they are representing their company well then they should be wearing nice trousers and a shirt at the very least.

A tie is probably a good idea too. If it feels like you are too formal when you walk in and see how other people are dressed then loosen it and undo your top button. Ties take attention away from other clothes, like your trousers, so you won't feel overdressed, but if it turns out to be smarter than you thought then you can leave it up and won't have to worry about how you look.

It is much better to be overdressed when you go to a job interview than underdressed. Overdressed says that you're willing to put the effort in. Underdressed says that you couldn't really care less.

Or you could wear jeans and a shirt, I'm not your mum.

Apprenticeship for what? I'm an apprentice carpenter, so when I did my interview I decided to throw out the dress code and go with what I'm going to be wearing in my job / apprenticeship. I went in with my grungy work pants and a company shirt.

I would be best dressed honestly, I just got hired on as an electrical apprentice and wore a suit.

Oezil wrote I've got a apprenticeship interview tomorrow and the dress code is smart casual so I was thinking of wearing a shirt, jumper and black skinny jeans with cheksea boots would that be ok do you think?

Honestly wear a polo and some slacks. It's dressy but not overboard
