So its getting close to my birthday and i ordered a new atx mobo mine was a matx and im going to be running sli 970s for 1440p or 4k whichever works best. I also ordered myself a 1000w psu and a cpu fan. But my real question is, is 4k really worth it at only 60hz? I get about 120fps on my single 970 at 1920x1080 but ive wanted a 4k set up since i got my 970 but if there will soon be 240hz or 120hz 4k monitors ill wait it out. Also would it be better to get a 4k 44in tv or a 27in 4k monitor? Right now i use an insignia 240hz 1080p tv and have no issues but its bulky on my desk. But 2 4k monitors isnt cheaper then one bigger 4k tv so idk whats best.

I think it really all comes down to your personal preference.

Monitors are generally much better for gaming on. They have lower response time. My monitor is 27inch and its right on the edge of being too big. If I had to choose over 144hz or 4k I would pick 144hz.

dont buy a tv or youll get a smack

i went from a 144hz 1080p 3 monitor setup to a 28" 4k monitor and i dont regret a thing. The difference of 144hz vs 60hz is minimal imo and really does not bother me, i barely could notice a difference. My 4k is just so much more crisp, has much better colours and imo delivers a better experience but im a bit of a graphics whore.

Haha i am on the other side of this. I would much prefer the FPS. 40fps is jarring to me, 144 so smooooooooooth

It depends on your specs, 60fps with NO stuttering is just as good of a experience imo and without a side by side comparison you wont notice the difference.

Its also quite hard to achieve 144fps maxing out games like battlefield.

SLI GTX 970's will be perfectly fine for 4k, or 1440p 144Hz. If you're looking at 4k, you're looking at about $500 for a monitor. In which case, you're alternatives are 1440p 144Hz, or 3440x1440. Just make sure to get an IPS panel. 1440p 144Hz will be better for competitive gaming. 3440x1440 will be better for productivity, and certain games that play nicer in ultrawide format. 4k will be the best quality image. There absolutely won't be any 120Hz 4k panels anytime soon, never mind 240Hz. Also, 1000W PSU is entirely unnecessary.

You're kidding, right? Did you read either of those articles yourself? $5k for the Dell.. Asus does not have a price, it definitely won't be less than $1k, I'd be surprised if it was less than $2k. Also, to run 4k at 120Hz, you're looking at 2-way SLI Titan XP's, and even that won't be enough for some games. So, yes, 120Hz 4k is a good bit away, especially if you're not looking to spend at least $4k on GPU(s) and a monitor.
