A 20-30k car as a first car? I guess I won't go into what a first car is about beings that it sounds like you have your mind set and I'm sure someone else will tell you for me.

My first vehicle was a 1997 Ford F-150 4.6L, costed me 5k, and only 1,320 in insurance for the year.

I know first cars get damaged in one way or another but not everyone will damage first vehicles fortunatley.. If anything happens then I'll get it repaired..

A car worth 20 - 30 grand, also been a 1.8 for a first car? Jeez, why not start off with something cheaper and less power. Young driver in a car with decent power is going to want to open it up to it full performance then itll soon be wrapped around a lampost! (Coz' i know i would have proberbly done that) but nevermind. Its your choice if that suits you then good for you

The difference is, a headlight for the CLA is $241.71 for a knock off, not even an OEM piece. A headlight for a beater POS car is under $15 and can usually be had at a scrap yard. Also in a front end collision it's usually not just 1 headlight, you'll be replacing the bumper and probably the hood and at least 1 fender as well. That's an expensive repair bill.

I'm not saying your an idiot for buying a newer Mercedes (well, yeah, I guess I am), what I'm saying is you need to make sure you can afford it. Mercedes are very expensive to repair and maintain. I was looking at a Mercedes C350 and Cadillac ATS before I decided to just get a Ford Fusion (after I decided against luxury cars it was between American low end cars). I mean, yeah sure insurance is supposed to cover you if you get in a wreck, but sometimes they will just total it out and give you a fraction of what you paid for the car. I can't find a 1.8 Mercedes CLA AMG, I can find a CLA45 AMG in 2.0L (actual 1.9L but marketed at 2.0L), and just to get new brakes on that is between 4-800 bucks. For my Ford Fusion it was just under 200.

It's nice to dream, but leave the nice cars for retirement. Get something practical that you can learn on and not worry too much about. I went from a '97 F-150 to a '99 F-350, then I stepped up to a 2013 Ford Fusion. The only reason I made the jump was for reliability becase at any given time I may have to drive up to 500 miles 1 way for work.

If you have the 20-30k, great. Buy something cheap and reliable and invest the rest if you feel so compelled to spend the money.

Either way, not my money or my car but I think it's going to be an expensive mistake buying a luxury car for a first vehicle. But don;t just take it from me:

I have already checked over everything I need to for the car, enough to say and for my parents to also say it's affordable.. Also you can have a 1.6 Amg then a 1.8 Amg then a 2.0 Amg finally a 2.1 Amg.. the 45's are 2.0 turbo things so **** that shit right off the insurance for a 45 is about 30k when I looked lmao..

Why would you hate a V6?

Because the V6 Mustang is the less desired, lower end model with less power. Most people prefer the V8 variant with the extra power etc.
