A big security operation is under way, German police say. The scene in the Moosach district has been sealed off.
Reports speak of one attacker. Helicopters are over the scene and shopworkers reportedly unable to leave.
The security forces have been on alert after a migrant stabbed five people on a train in Bavaria on Monday.
The authorities had warned of the danger of further attacks.
Munich police are telling people to avoid the area.

Munich police have confirmed on Facebook that six people have been killed.

A Munich police spokesman has just announced that police are looking for up to three perpetrators.

Many people are severely injured.

So many crazy things happening so fast back to back it seems like everyday now their is some kind of tragedy.

We live in such a cruel world.

Up to nine dead now. And gunmen are reportedly still at large (one may be dead). All transportstion services are shut off and the citys highways are sealed off.
