Firstly, there's no point trying to trick your body. It's far smarter than we are and after thousands of years of studying it, we still don't know half of the things it does or why it does them.

Eating more calories than you need will cause you to gain weight, so for the days that you eat in a caloric surplus, you will be gaining weight and the days where you eat in a caloric deficit you will be losing weight.

If you're skinny fat, it's far better to gain weight in order to fix the problem, instead of losing weight.

Being skinny fat basically means that you have a lot more fat than muscle, so if you lose enough fat to become <10% bodyfat then you're going to have lost a lot of muscle too. Muscle that you don't want to be losing when you don't have very much in the first place.

You're not going to look lean until probably around the 140lb area which isn't recommended for someone of your height. Instead, gain weight and bulk up until you have a lot more muscle, then proceed to lose the fat so you will be left with some muscle afterwards.

You didn't say if you were going to the gym or not but if you've never been before then definitely start going to the gym and bulking. You could easily gain 10-15LBs of solid muscle in your first year of the gym if you work hard at it and diet correctly.

That's some good advice I am going to take in my routine!

Thanks again,

Bulk up first. Eat in a caloric surplus and gain some mass. Once you've gained a good amount of size, then you can lean down and lose some fat. If you try and cut right now, you'll lose the fat and a lot of muscle which won't look good. Also make sure you're working out while bulking, you want to be gaining muscle too.

Highly recommend the following diet in this video.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I'm currently into around 14 days now and dropped 4kg but around 2.8% bodyfat quick way to get shredded that I know.

But you will loose muscle and stuff too just my due to me being on steroids I retain more muscle while dropping bodyfat mainly.

Also increasing muscle mass, help the reduce bodyfat the more lean muscle mass you have the easier it is to keep bodyfat low.

I was 250lbs at 6"1' and lost 50 pounds just by doing 30 minutes of excericse a day 5 days a week with alternating days with running.

Weight lose is just dietary change and exercise.
