Poll finds Americans don't think Clinton or Trump will be good president

Whoever wins the November election will undoubtedly face great challenges, but according to a new poll, the next president won't enter the White House saddled with great expectations from the voters.

A Quinnipiac University National poll out Wednesday found that majorities of Americans believe neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump will be a good president.

Fifty-eight percent of voters say that Trump would not be a good president, according to the poll, while only 35% say he would be. That compares to 53% who believe Clinton will not be a good president and 43% who say she will.

There is, of course, a sharp partisan divide when it comes to outlooks on the potential presidencies of both candidates, though more Republicans are pessimistic about their standard-bearer than are Democrats. When it comes to independents, however, the verdict is clear: 59% believe Trump will not be a good president, while 60% think the same of Clinton.

Voters find themselves in the middle of a mean-spirited, scorched earth campaign between two candidates they dont like," said Tim Malloy, the poll's assistant director, in a statement accompanying the poll. "And they dont think either candidate would be a good president.

As for the state of the race itself, Quinnipiac found that Clinton and Trump are neck and neck. Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee, was backed by 42% in the poll, while Trump received 40% support.

The Quinnipiac poll interviewed 1,610 registered voters from June 21 to June 27 and has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2.4 percentage points.

My view:

I think this makes a lot of sense.
I don't really see any vehement Hillary supporters who think that she is a great person and that she genuinely wants to make the world a better place.
I know those people exist, but I have never met one. I see people saying, "I don't like either, but I think Hillary is better than Trump."
Trump has split the nation and people who do support him do so with rigor and conviction - but they aren't the majority - and the people who don't support him do so with just as much rigor and conviction.

Very true stuff. I mean, I have seen very pro people on both sides, but it doesn't compare to people wanting neither or for a meteor to hit. If a gun was pointed to my head though, I'd tell them to shoot me. I guess Clinton would be slightly better. At least she is fine on social issues. I am scared they will both be terrible at foreign policy. You know the political system is broken when the choices you have make the majority of people feel this way. Who knows? Maybe somebody will come out of nowhere and manage to take the whole thing. That is a very long shot, but I have to keep hoping for something.

I would rather see Trump be president than that women. Haven't really researched about her and what her history is and what has she done to be a 'president'...

Are you saying that you would rather it be Trump than Hillary because she's a woman?

he said that woman. I mean if he is (not saying he is or isn't) it kind of goes both ways. Some people are only voting for her because she's a woman.

Unfortunately, we can't show emphasis in text unless we embolden it.
He could be saying, "I would rather see Trump be president than that woman." or, "I would rather see Trump be president than that woman."

Coupled with the fact that he has said that he doesn't know anything about her and is willing to dismiss her as a candidate for no apparent reason, I think I'm justified in asking him so that he can give his reasons.

Hillary would be a disaster for our country. She is totally corrupt and above the law. She is reckless and incompetent which disqualifies her from being president. She put our national security at risk many times by sending classified emails on her insecure server and then lied to the American people multiple times about it. Trump isn't a saint but he at least he loves America and wouldn't destroy our country.

In my opinion, they both would really be shitty as presidents. They both don't deserve it.

Nope never kill me know.
I'm saying if I didn't know any information about that person I would choose the other person because I know his history. What makes you think that someone would randomly vote for a women because who she is...?
