long story short, players when the game first came out back in September when the game released are better than their upgraded cards (MOTM,IF, upgrades, etc). for example neymar 88 is going to play better than his 90 rated card. it has been tested and proven so anyone who says it's not true can test it out for themselves.

So i guess it totally pointless to buy upgraded players then?

I've felt this for the past 2 years. My inform and TOTS players never played as well as the normal cards. That's why I such a budget team now. Cause there's just no point.

a lot more has come out since i commented. in my opinion it's slowly looking to be more of a bug than something intentional. hopefully we get a response from EA soon

It's only terrible for first informs/upgrades, because the standard card would be better. But for TOTY/TOTS cards etc they play to card stats (no matter what chem), so a TOTS Messi on low chem would be better than the Gold version on 10, because his stats are already so good.

Meaning you could stick together any TOTS cards in a team, regardless of chemistry, and they'd feel fine because their stats are already so good.

But again, that's only really the case for the "High end" cards..

This also makes Legends even better, seeing as they're the only "Special" cards that actually get a stat boost, when on full chem.

It is only pointless if it is like a first inform or a winter upgrade with barely any stat upgrades. If the stat upgrades are huge like that of a third inform or a TOTS than it is better to purchase the special card rather than the non upgraded card.
