Drowning would make more sense there seeing as if you breath the sea, you will drown.

Does the phrase "Breathe the sea" make sense?

Many people have recalled a dream in which they have found themselves underwater and are able to actually breathe

Grammatically - it makes sense.
Metaphorically - it could make sense.
Analogically - it could make sense.
Literally - there more accurate ways of saying 'Drowning', but it still makes sense. You are breathing the sea, but it's a one way street. So then it depends on how you define breathing. Does breathing have to be both in and out? We qualify breathing as 'Breathing in' and 'Breathing out' so, like someone else has already said, 'Breathing in the sea' would probably be more accurate. But meh, semantics.

So I think both of you are right in different ways.

For me it doesn't make sence, but a lot of people see things in different ways. So something that I don't understand could mean a whole lot to someone else
