Donald Trump, in a recent presentation in Bismarck, N.D, has outlined his plans to make the US a completely self-sufficent entity in terms of energy.

However, Mr. Trump fails to recognise that it isn't as simple as setting up more plants and piping money into the energy sector. The natural energy market drives demand for various different energy sources. Not one man.
At the moment a boom of natural gas demand is in full swing, as supply is abundant, allowing prices for this energy source to fall through the floor. However, Trump wants to force the coal mining industry back into the frontline of energy provision, failing to recognise that creating more coal mining organisations will not force supply of coal up. It has already proven to be in short supply as well as far more harmful to the environment to extract than natural gas, meaning the process will not only inevitably end in the same level of unemployment as before, but a huge amount of taxpayers money will be wasted in setting these futile firms up also.

Trump also goes on to justify these delusional ideas by claiming that global warming is a myth, and not an environmental issue that the US should be concerning itself with. He also makes reference to how the Paris Climate agreement (an agreement between leading countries of the world to do its best to keep pollution in check) shackling America and forcing it to abide by its own terms. This is completely untrue as the PCA is nothing more than a set of guidelines recommended for these offenders to adhere to to help preserve the planet. --> see here for reference: "In his speech, he complained, inaccurately: This agreement gives foreign bureaucrats control over how much energy we use on our land, in our country. No way.

In fact, at the heart of the Paris Agreement are voluntary pledges put forward by the governments of over 190 nations, laying out plans to lower emissions. No government has control over the emissions-reduction plans of other governments

He said that he does not want to go down the route of wind energy because windmills kill birds.
Two things that kill more birds than windmills: Power lines and windows.
Is he going to strip down all of the power lines and remove all of the windows in the USA?

The man has no idea what he is talking about.

This is a promise that could never be kept.
Of all promises Presidential hopefuls make, this one is up there in terms of "literally impossible to be done in 8 years without crippling your own country".
