Hi,
I am building a computer for a friend and it has been a while for me since I last built a pc. I have a couple questions. Are the newest motherboards incompatible with DDR3? Any recommendations on switching some of the parts to save a few bucks?
Thanks

I'd save some money on the case and get a better CPU, with a better psu as well.

That PSU is terrible. 10/10 do not buy. Does it all have to be from MicroCenter? What's the budget, $1200? What will the system be used for?

Could you enlighten me on why the PSU is crap? We are trying to get everything from microcenter because it is 20 min from his house. This computer is for gaming

He likes the case although I have been pushing to get something cheaper, I found it not worth the extra money to get overcloackable i5, since he will never overclock and in stock form the overclockable model is only a few percent increase in performance

Well, just because you're on the Microcenter website, doesn't mean you can go in and pick all these components up. You're on the web store, so these items are in stock online, but potentially not in store. If you're wanting to pick everything up in store, could you tell us what location you're at, so we can suggest in stock components from your local microcenter. The PSU is terrible. It uses low quality internals from a shitty OEM, and then Corsair just throw their sticker on it.

That would be stupid, and makes no sense. The CX750 is a terrible PSU, and should not be purchased.

This is what you should be getting;

Again, I asked you to clarify the budget, but you didn't, so I had to assume. What I suggested is still cheaper than what you were looking at though, and is better, with more storage.
