aNaughtyCuban wrote I think YouTube is better than its ever been. The comment section is irrelevant; it has always been notoriously toxic and hateful. Channels like SciShow, Veritasium, SmarterEveryDay, UberHaxorNova (I could go on, those are some of my favorites and there are many more as awesome) are creating content at a higher quality than there's ever been.

I think what you're observing is a genre, or trend, of YouTube that is dying.

Youtube in my mind used to have some sort of community feel, where the viewer liked the content and the person making the content would be having fun, displaying creativity and have some sort of connection with the viewer. But since the monetisation became big its just, everyone has a youtube channel and they are spewing out half hearted videos to a bunch of spoilt kids. I think if anything the whole trend is far from dying and appears to be growing, I mean its never been like comment section flooded with positivity, but now its these ridiculously overused jokes and memes that aren't even remotely funny, drama, people begging for attention/upvotes, and people saying kys or get cancer. It isn't every channel though, or maybe even the majority. I just stick to what I like. I don't watch that many videos any more so its hard to tell.

I personally think Youtube is filled with clickbait, spaming or feuding videos. The money corrupts the youtube community.

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Seriously though, it used to be a lot simpler back in 2006-2007. Which, doesn't always necessarily mean better. Sure, we might have nostalgia for the way things used to be, but that can also cloud our judgement to a certain degree. I think YouTube is better than it has ever been.

I know, personally, I use YouTube 100x more today than I did 10 years ago. Most likely due to the fact that content is much higher quality now than it was then.
