Here's a short essay I wrote on importance of voting. I wrote this for a scholarship, which I actually won, and want to spread this with all of you. It doesn't matter who you vote for, but if you are an eligible United States citizen, I highly suggest you partake in the voting.
Abortion and gay rights are just a few of the daily political issues in the news. This is becoming an age of technology and change. Events that happen are quickly news in countries far across the world. There isnt anything more important than voicing opinions. Although it may seem like one vote may not contribute anything to society, voting is something that needs to be emphasized because of the importance of the current political issues.
It doesnt matter. What is one vote going to do. These are thoughts that many young men and women have every day. What is the importance of one vote, when there are over three hundred million people in the United States. Under fifty percent of the population vote. This is a disturbing fact. How differently would it be if eighty percent of the eligible voters would vote? That would more than double the vote tally. This could easily swing an election. It tends to be the uninformed members of society that do not vote. What do people have against voting? For years, minorities and women fought for the right to vote, but for what? People not exercising the right to vote is going against what this nation stands upon. Other countries, such as Australia, require people to vote. There are fines for those who do not vote, because they recognize the importance of every single vote.
Voting is participating in the government. A candidate is not powerful. The people supporting that person are who are truly in power. The candidate is the person who represents the views of the people in a fashionable manner. No president or elected official can make all the decisions they are required to make on their own. That is why people vote, to show who they want to represent themselves and this nation. So many people complain about the president, and complain about the decisions being made. Do people have any right to complain if they did not partake is voting? The sixty-plus percent of people that refuse to vote could easily impact an election in such a way that it changes the winner. The question is this or that. Complaining about the result is not an option when you refuse to answer the question. To find an answer, you need results.
Voting is a nationwide survey. In a survey, the greater the number of people questioned, the more accurate the result. The same goes with voting. There is less of a margin of error the larger the voting body. If everyone in the United States of America voted, there would be no discrepancies about the president. Yes, people would complain that their candidate did not make it, but people would not have the right to say that the election was unfair.
People say that their one vote cannot and will not influence an election. Truthfully, one vote will not change things. The multitude of people that are thinking that same thought though is something that can make a notable impact on the way the election goes. If the millions of people with the same mindset that their vote wont make an impact voted, the millions of votes of these people cast will in fact make an impact. There isnt an honest way to make people vote. Voting can be encouraged to the extreme, and there will still be members of society that do not vote. Is abortion an issue? Vote for it. Is gay marriage an issue? Vote for it. Is health care an issue? Vote for it. There are many other social issues that people will criticize daily, but criticism will not end the problem. One pebble is not what matters, it is the millions and millions that make up the whole, creating something that matters. Same goes for an election. It all depends on who wins the nominee for both parties. I would not vote for either Hillary or Bernie, so it's up to who wins the Republican nominee.

Why you shouldn't vote (at least not for D or R): both parties are virtually the same thing (both wings on the same bird). They both will support wars, they both will support bombing people, they both will support reducing our freedoms, they both will spend trillions putting us more into debt, they both support big government, and neither of them care about you or anyone in the country. You'd have to be extremely naive to believe they do. No matter who you vote for, you're not going to get what you want, and said winner will not do anything to benefit you. So technically anyone that does vote, contributes to the downfall of this country. If you're going to vote, do some research, look at third-party contestants, and actually read their policies, not just what they say on the screen.
I don't vote, nor am I registered, because of this and I just don't care. I just sit back and watch the show.

2. They both support bombing people - Agreed (I mean most people support bombing terrorists)
3. They both support reducing our freedoms - Disagree - I genuinely think Trump is a President that is for the people. He is in favor of the second amendment, which permits us to legally bear arms, while the democrats are looking to take away that right.
4. They both will spend trillions putting us more into debt - Disagree. Most of the politicians in this race are full of it when it comes to decreasing our debt. The only candidates that I would support for decreasing our debt is Donald Trump and John Kasich. Kasich has been known for his ability to decrease debt, which is why I like him for that reason only, but he lacks in every other department. Trump is a businessman. He will make deals and they will be great deals. We have such a bad trade deficit with other countries, and I believe that Trump will fix that. Look at the US Census Data, we are losing in trade against so many countries it is embarrassing.
Bernie Sanders only wants to add to the debt. He is offering free healthcare and free college. Who is going to pay for that? Increase taxes? Last time I checked nobody wants their taxes increased. Bernie is a spender.
Our country spends $4.1 billion per year to educate and care for illegal immigrants. We are wasting so much money in the United States it's crazy. I suggest you to look up the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership). An awful deal that will not help the national debt one bit.

6. They don't care about us - True and False - If you ask me if Hillary Clinton cares about the citizens, I would say no. I think Bernie Sanders cares about citizens. He wants to give us free healthcare and college - Who doesn't want free stuff? However, it would not be productive for our country moving forward for having that. College isn't a right, it's a privilege. Look up reasons why it shouldn't be free on google. I, once again, think Trump cares about Americans. He is not bought by anyone. He doesn't need to run for President. He has such a comfortable life and successful business that he simply doesn't need to do all of this. He genuinely wants to help this country and make it better.
Hillary cannot be trusted as the President. She is a national security risk and she has been a part of the government for a long time and nothing has gotten better. What makes you think she can improve our country if she has been at it for so long? Bernie Sanders will not get the nomination. Trump doesn't need to be bought, because he is the buyer. He is a lobby/special interest. (1%)
3) He doesn't defend freedom, only the second amendment. He wants to repeal the 14th amendment. Deporting all Muslims doesn't sound like defending freedom either.
4) Trump will not lower our debt. Just because he is a businessman (with four bankruptcies) doesn't mean he will bring us out of it. Trump is also a spender. He will spend billions in the Middle East, and even more to "defend" us against China, Iran, and North Korea. And who knows how much he'll spend to deport all those Muslims.
6) Trump does not care about you or America, only power and himself. If he really did care about us and wanted to make us great again, he would start by closing his factories in China and Mexico and open them here to create jobs. But he doesn't. Know why? More profit off shores. That's what matters to him.
Doesn't sound like you tried to explain why I'm wrong or what I said is false. Sounds more like you tried to promote Trump. Bit bias much?
