A recovery, is done on 360, if you have not transferred your account to a next gen console (PS4, PC, Xbox One) then you can transfer the stats to one of those consoles, if you HAVE transferred to a next gen console already, then it will only work for 360.

Pre modded accounts, they transfer to Xbox One, PS4, and PC as well.
