Hello,

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s5212y, the specs are:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I know its not the best computer, but I've been shopping around, upgraded the ram and processor for cheap, that made a huge difference for the computer. But, now i need to upgrade the graphics card... The Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 3100 is just brutal. Im looking for some help on finding a new graphics card that will work for a 220 Watt PSU (I yanked out the DVD drive so there is more power available), low profile PCI Express x16 graphics card. Not finding much, but have a few not sure if they will work.

Here are the options so far:

#1 (I think will work) : [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

#2 (Not sure if will work) : [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

So i am here seeking to know if both of these graphics cards WILL work with my computer, or if there is another option that will run around the same price. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Honestly, I would not bother to upgrade your graphics card until you can get a new PSU.

Im going to be honest. I wouldnt bother to upgrade that PC. I'd just sell it and save up to build a new, much better one.

Im not trying to do anything serious on this computer... I just want it to be able to run minecraft or something low easily, this Integrated i have right now doesn't even work with minecraft... and i think a graphics card upgrade for 20$ wont kill the bank and could make a good difference, so i was just wondering if either of these would work in my computer, and if they do, will the be decent enough for low games like minecraft. Thanks.

Any GPU under $20 would be a waste of money. You're also going to definitely want to replace that PSU before the GPU. That being said, the case will also potentially need to be replaced. If it doesn't need to be replaced, it still should be at some point.

So you are saying buying a 17$ GPU will be a waste compared to a integrated graphics through Intel GMA 3100, which can barely run MC.

Definitely. Even $60-$70 would get you a decent low end used card which would be significantly better than anything for $20. Up to $100, every couple of dollars helps a lot and anything less than about $50 just isn't worth it IMO. You'll definitely want to replace the PSU though, as I said.

check out pcpartpicker and see if you can find all your components, then you can add in what you want and filter everything to fit your budget.
