I just lost all of my good skins to CSGO Lotto, collectively worth $300 (not including stickers/nametags). I realized that being obsessed with pixelated skins in a video game are completely worthless and take away from playing and enjoying the actual game (you can like skins if you want, I'm just ranting). And I lost roughly 7-8 games in a row and I don't know how I didn't win just once out of all those tries. Anyways, I'm through with skins but now I'm going to join the game for what it's really worth and I'm happy about it.

I think this is a sort of rant you keep to yourself. I don't think people care about what you spent on. It's your fault at the end of the day but I see where you're heading with this.

Yeah, the prices of the skins are just ridiculous. Like think about it, there are knives worth $20,000. That could buy you a car easily and a college degree and it's a virtual item that can be taken away at anytime. The prices don't make any sense and don't even get me started on silvers and novas that have karambits and other ridiculous skins.

I'm not a CSGO player, so I know nothing about these skins. Are these worth actual money? Or in game money?

How are these prices determined, and lastly, don't tell me people actually spend large sums of money just for skins...

They are worth actual money. There are trades of knives reported to exceed $30,000+ (for a single knife skin). The prices of rare skins are solely decided by who obtains them, for the most part. For example, there are some knives that have extremely rare patterns, meaning there's only 1, 2, or 3 like it in it's existence. It's ridiculous, but if it's what some millionaire wants to spend his money on, so be it.

Its not real money because you can't cash out from Steam that's what everyone forgets its all well and good having $300 in skins but how do you withdraw that money? you can't Valve wins.

There's alternative sites, steam isn't this locked economy, trading bots have changed that. I've cashed out $800 in skins through OPSKINS. Skins are pretty much a way to get by betting laws, there are so many underage kids betting (Including me lol) because they claim that "it's just skins". They definitely have monetary value that can be transferred to real currency fairly easily.

Well, I won't name them, but there is a plethora of websites to sell your CS:GO skins for PayPal. It's 100% legit, I've done it myself before. The most popular of which, at any given point in time, has more than 350,000 skins up for sale.

You don't have to spend your life's saving's on skins. Just because you lost your skins, doesn't mean that they are worthless or stupid. I like to think of skins and the market for skins sorta like the stock market. There is a ton of money to be made, you just have to make the money wisely. And to be honest, you really don't even have to trade or sell skins. Some people just like to add a little extra to a game, to personalize it a little more. Having some nice skins does not completely take away from playing and enjoying the game.
