Its always better going with the more powerful single card I have lived by this since I started building 2 years ago, the reasons are that some games do not support SLI And the factor driver issues is huge with SLI, Always go with the single more powerful GPU.
If you want to game on multiple monitors then go for a 980 with high amounts of Vram rather than having the pain of two 907's which increases heat output, power usage and makes things a lot more difficult.

I already explained this further up the topic.. The 980 is terrible for the cost, not worth the extra over a 970, and if you are considering SLI 970's, then just get a single 980 Ti instead as SLI isn't as smooth as people would think and some games don't even support it at all.
