Hello TTG,

I'm looking for my first PC build for mostly gaming and my budget is around $900

I dont need monitor keyboard or mouse, but sugestions are always welcome.

I play call of duty, fallout, minecraft, runesacpe, GTA etc...

If it makes a huge diference, I think i'm going to get into some video editing in the near future but not entirely sure yet.

Regular size case is fine; not really interested in a small one.

I hate when i click something and there is a lag delay type thing before anything happens, so if that can be minimized that would be great.

I would prefer SSD for speed reasons unless its better to have it the old school hard drive way.

I dont really know about memory, I am between 500GB or 1TB. Info on which would be better would be great.

Thanks in advance!!!

-Falcon

This is what I would get [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Will handle the games you want fine as well as editing/rendering. SSD for OS and a few games. Stock cooler will do fine for now but feel free to add one in the future.

i want windows 7 or 8 on this computer, is that going to be a problem? Or will that work? Just checking before I buy and have to run weird software or something crazy that will ruin my build.

You won't have any issues running Windows 7/8 on the build that "Dan-" recommended.

My $0.02;

Will perform almost identically, but has more RAM and all SSD storage. 480GB will be enough for now and if need be, you can add an HDD when you have some more money.

I noticed that power supply is cheaper than the first build. Is this an expense of quality or is that because with all SSD in the build it requires less power? Don't want to sacrifice quality for a few bucks; just making sure.

Also, if i upgrade to more storage will I need to change anything else where it would be better to just go with 1TB from the beginning? If that's the case would you have any suggestions for bigger storage?

Last, There is a lot of addable options on the case, do I need any of them?

Thanks for the help!

The EVGA unit is better, hence it's higher price tag. However, the XFX unit is a perfectly good PSU. If 480GB isn't going to be enough storage to last you a while, then sure, go ahead and get a 1TB HDD and a 240GB SSD or something. It's very easy to add an HDD in the future though, so I'd personally get the 480GB SSD to last me a few months or so until I could add a 2/3TB HDD.

So I bought sanctorum's suggestion build on the 12th of this month and I've run into 2 problems so far (haven't put anything together yet because of problem 1, I think it could be built before problem 2 is solved if need be) ... Problem 1 is that the video card has been out of stock since I ordered it, so I'm thinking I might be looking for a replacement on that if it doesn't come back into stock in a few days but we'll see... and problem 2 is I don't have a place to put game disks or other CDs in the build, which I think might be a bit of a problem haha. Any suggestions on either one would be great.... do I keep waiting for the video card since on one of the sites (not the one I bought from but still a concern) says they are expecting to have them back in stock on the first but another one says item may or may not be replenished.

Any info or suggestions help, thanks! and sorry about the wall of text

There are several different 390s you could get, or a GTX 970.

Or order the Gigabyte 390 at $300 and they'll deliver it when it's in stock.

You need an optical drive if you want to use discs.

Is there anything I should look for or avoid when shopping for an optical drive? Or one you would suggest?
