It's all because of Marc Guggenheim, the screenwriter / exec producer.

He's fallen into the grasp of 12 year old Tumblr girls who fantasize and actualize a fiction relationship such as Oliver and Felicity, and that's all they want. It's become so bad, that people often refer to "Arrow" as Felicity and Friends since its became all about her and AMAZING hacking skills, with Oliver as her side kick.

They would receive too much backlash as there is so many Olicity fans compared to actual comic book fans (and they barely watch the show anymore anyways).

The show is dead, there is no bringing it back.
