Just some of the assignments I've been doing. Think I'll post them up in this thread, these are for architecture believe it or not. Maybe this will show a good progress of what we're doing, I'll keep it updated. In the first 2 assignments, had to choose a word that represented this article that we read and then had to choose 1 of 5 Font options that the professor gave us to choose from. In assignment 2, we then had to pull out 4 interesting negative spaces from in between the letters in the word, then extrude them in an axo sketch, then create a model of that sketch in order to study how light penetrates the model.

Assignment 1- Virtue (first assignment of semester):

Finished this typography assignment. Was pretty simple once I got the measurements all down and then messed with the circulatory parts.

Assignment 2- Radical (more difficult because of the elipses, also more that has to be done overall for this assignment):

creating ellipses with circles is not fun. at all. (because I have to be able to draw them with a compass)

Time to start the next assignment, have to do the same thing, but then take 4 of the negative spaces that lie in between 2 of the letters, make a sketch of those extruded out creating a sort of passageway space, and then create a model of that sketch

Alright, finished the computer part of Radical. Not drafting it tonight, but that took longer than expected. About 5 hours to do the stuff that is currently in the Assignment 2 spoiler on the main post. Think all the stuff going on was kind of distracting me and slowing me down haha and I didn't feel like grouping the different letter stuff so that I could hide them, but that probably would've been easier.... oh well, too late now. Check it out, I'll draft it when I wake up, hopefully my dimensions for the circles work as planned and don't give me issues when they turn into ellipses. Thanks

Thanks man, hopefully it turns out nice after I draft it since that's what really matters. We don't turn in the computer part, that's just how I planned it out

CSDZN wrote Not bad at all man. I am currently starting the semester working on triptych minimalist design in my image studio class. It's a little rough with the storyboard stage. I can't wait to start typography

On nice, I'm actually doing architecture, but we happen to be studying space through analyzing different fonts and the spaces that are created in between the letters. It's surprising how spatial typographic things are and you don't realize them though you're exposed so much to them.

Finished drafting the word. Took about 7 hours or so.The ellipses took longer than I expected, the first a took me about 2 hours.
