Hey there guys I have a laptop that I am about to sell and it originally came installed with the product key already activated. I have now done a clean install using my own disk from when I bought a legit copy of windows. I have not entered the product key so therefore does that mean It will not activate? as I see an option for "activate windows online" thanks a lot! I do not want to give my key away as its my personal one

Most likely it activated a trial as most Windows 7 computers do not have product keys in the BIOS such as Windows 8 or higher pcs, You can confirm if your Pc is activated by following the instructions at the following link.

The Windows 7 installed won't be activated as you haven't activated it using a product key, it's running in trial mode (must be activated in 30 days).

Correct way of reloading a laptop in order to sell it, would of been to obtain an OEM Windows 7 edition disc which matches the version on the product key on your OEM sticker on your laptop (I.E. if the product key on the OEM sticker was for Windows 7 Pro, you would need to obtain an OEM Windows 7 Pro DVD in order to install Windows 7 and activate it using the product key on the OEM sticker on your laptop.

I have a good solution to this, if you'd be willing to discuss it via PM.
