So my friend just got a Dell XPS 8700 and last night he was doing fine on it. Playing games and using steam. But today he asked me to come over and help him out. Well the problem he is having is that his desktop won't connect to his internet or even pick up his network at all. It says to plug in an Ethernet cable but his router is in another room. We know the Internet works because his Xbox and phone are connected to it. Need your help guys. Thank you

Has he got all the latest updates. When you get a new PC there are quite a few of updates you need to do.

Possibly download the appropriate Ethernet drivers onto a USB and try re-installing them. Usually the drivers you get with the PC are outdated, always best to get them from the providers online.
