If you are into animated film i would highly suggest you check out anything made by Mamoru Hosoda or Makoto Shinkai both very talented Makoto Shinkai's movies have some of the greatest art in any anime to this date.

Steins;Gate and Mahou Shoujo Madoka! My top 2 animes. They are rarely known and not a mainstream anime but the story is indeed the most epic plot twist and storyline of all animes I've watched so far! Will give you goosebumps for a very long time!
