(This test ran at 70 C* flat out for 5 minutes.. this could a problem)

My computer runs fairly slow on ultra and has very big fps drops, my GPU is new but my processor has been in for around 3 years.
I think its the processor but i cant be sure, i do only have a 2TB HDD and no SSD but i hardly think that is the problem.
Also may i add my GPU isn't a 7970 its a Vapor-X R9 280X 3G card. They were close I guess.

I've put a benchmark test on heaven 4.0 on extreme settings and recorded it using fraps, it seems like its the GPU but it's new. Should be up soon:

Your list of specs isn't working. It is most likely a CPU bottleneck, although you would want to get an SSD also.

Go into task manager while playing and look at the CPU usage when playing. If it is nearing 100% then that is your problem.

he has essentially the same CPU as me and I have never had a single bottleneck, even with my 970...

7970/280x are the same card. The 280x is just a rebadged 7970, that's why it's saying you have a 7970. You should be able to play on Ultra settings, with playable FPS with your rig. Make sure there's no problems or anything with your rig. If you're going to upgrade, the first thing I'd do, is add an SSD.

Would be handy to know what case and PSU you have, as those could do with an upgrade.
