Red RAM in a black/white mobo? Also, only 8GB RAM. What I suggested is £75 cheaper with twice the RAM. No need for a 750W unit. I have the 750G2, and used it for my SLI 970s but a 650W unit is more than sufficient for SLI 970s, I should have just got a 650W unit. No need for such an expensive cooler on a locked CPU.

CCD wrote Don't get a 8350. They aren't 8 "true" cores in the same sense as an Intel processor. Get a 4690k, don't go with skylake as DDR4 and mobo prices will get stupid. 4690k is incredibly popular for a reason, £170~ and you'll be hitting at least 4.2GHz on overclock all day. I've got one at 4.6 on a hyper 212 air cooler and it's perfectly stable at a small voltage increase.

An unlocked CPU makes absolutely no sense if OP isn't overclocking. Skylake is barely more expensive. DDR4 RAM is only slightly more than DDR3, and Skylake mobo's are only slightly more expensive than Haswell. It makes no sense not to go with Skylake at this point. You realise that some 4690k's won't be stable past stock speeds, right? Overclocking is completely dependent on your luck, and you could quite easily get a chip that isn't stable, unless completely stock, regardless of your cooling.

650w is cutting it way too close especially if you want to OC the cards. 16GB of RAM isn't required, so not much of an argument. You may not like that colour scheme, but others will, don't act like your opinions are the same as others. And where did I say anything about a 390x?

650W is more than enough for SLI 970s, whether they're overclocked or not. I'm not saying 16GB is required, but what I suggested was cheaper with more RAM. 8GB is pretty minimal now-a-days, though it's sufficient. You've gone for a black and white motherboard with red RAM, and a red GPU. That's just not going to look nice. Just spend the extra £5 for a Z170A Gaming Pro.

Once again, the colour scheme is your opinion... Don't project it upon others.

.

Add up ALL the differences in skylake prices and your pushing your £/fps rate down and down. Why not buy a K skew CPU for the extra £10 - £20? I guarantee after OP watches a few videos and sees how easy it is he'll be jumping at potentially free performance increases. The vast vast vast majority of 4690k's hit 4.2. Yes it's not guaranteed, but even if it clocks to 3.6 your still getting a better performance to price sweet spot than a standard 4690

Stop being a fanboy, a 970 should never be in a build. Go with a 390x has a big perfomance advantage over the 970. I'm not a amd fanboy either I have sli 980tis in my build.

Yeah, no, he isnt an Nvidia fanboy. The 970 is a viable option.

The 390x is NOT worth it over a 390.

I'm not a amd fanboy either I have sli 980tis in my build.

So you're an Nvidia fanboy. K.

You dont know what you're talking about. Regardless of your "SLI 980tis"

Lol 970 only has 3.5kb and is not direct x 12 ready, you would
More for money with a 390x its facts. I'm not a nvidia fanboy, I got sli 980tis cuz of shadow play. I should of got cf fury x since direct x 12 ready and better scaling . I'm not trying to star a war here, just telling the guy the truth . I'm overall a nice guy

No, not really. I would not pay $100 more for a minimal increase. Not worth it over the 390, but if you have the extra money, be my guest.

The 4690 is the same price as the 4690k, so obviously the 4690k is better. Again, as I said, unlocked CPU makes no sense if isn't overclocking, and a locked Skylake CPU would be better. Really? The vast majority? Show me those numbers then. Show me the "vast majority" of 4690k's running at 4.2GHz or more.
